12 months consulting Job Title: IT Project Manager Location: White Plains Reports To: Director – Strategic Projects Summary of Responsibilities: The business analyst / project manager is responsible for the overall coordination and delivery, within agreed time and budget, of all IT project phases for expansion projects and programs. The business analyst / project manager is also expected to contribute to team operational activities, such as general planning, budgeting, and studies (where appropriate). The key responsibilities of the position are outlined below: • Gathers customer requirements for expansion projects (based on initial requirements set defined during expansion estimate process within system governance flow) • Drafts and reviews detailed functional specifications corresponding to commercial requirements. Works with commercial project leaders to review, edit, and validate specifications as needed • Manages the gathering of estimates for all functional works within project scope – also oversees the negotiation process with commercial representatives to define final project scope. • Coordinates with IT technical teams, such as development and technical services, to define global project planning and timelines for individual deliveries. Secures inputs related to technical deliverables. • Follows up overall project planning during the implementation of a given project – responsibilities also include communication to commercial representatives in case of emerging risks or cost impacts during the course of the project • Coordination of testing campaigns to validate new functionality (including interface with offshore testing team) • Lead move to production process for project, including data preparation, end-user training and communication, post-launch validation, etc. • Leads project status and steering committee meetings on a regular basis • Creates regular status reports, including project status reports, budgetary follow-up documents, and steering committee presentations for review by Director – Strategic Projects, PMO Manager, and other managers/directors where appropriate. • Provides regular updates to department senior management as needed, including VP – Client Solutions and CIO • Participates to new project studies as required by the Director – Strategic Projects • Participates to expansion project scoping and estimate process used to define team budget and project planning for the following calendar year • Completion of all administrative activities (vacation planning communication, timesheets, etc.) in a timely manner Requirements (Skills, experience, education etc.): Mandatory skills required for the position: • 4-year college degree in one of the following subjects: Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, Statistics, or Mathematics (or equivalent work experience) • Minimum 3.0 GPA in undergraduate program • 1-2 years experience in leadership roles within IT projects, including responsibility for overall delivery • 3-5 years experience with business analysis roles within an IT project context, with a focus on specifications, project planning, or quality assurance • 2+ years of experience in the travel or consumer products industries (including positions related to distribution) • Knowledge of standard SLDC phases and commonly used methodologies • Experience in working with basic budgets and resource planning concepts • General with common enterprise technologies and concepts (Java, Oracle, Client/Server Applications, ETL/OLAP, etc.) – in depth technical experience is not required. • Ability to work in an independently directed environment, including strong time management skills • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate varying deadlines and timescales due to the seasonal nature of the supported customers’ business • Experience with all MS Office applications, with focus on MS Excel and MS Access • Experience in collaborating with commercial team members on requirements and vision of requirements, with an emphasis on interfacing and presenting to senior commercial managers • Willingness to travel up to 10%-15% of time per year • Fluency in written and spoken English • Ability to operate comfortably in an environment with non-native English speakers representing a variety of different cultures Recommended skills required for the position: • PMP or other accredited project management certification • 2+ years of working in rail travel business • Knowledge of French or any of the following European languages: French, Spanish, German, or Italian • Experience in managing members of a project team in a direct report context (or any other general IT management experience) • Experience in IT portfolio and/or PMO management
