Midtown NY location

This is NOT a system administrator role, it is an engineering role with desktop and server sys admin functions as well. Experience leading projects is required.  this a leadership/management position

We require a hands on experienced Sr Systems engineer to work within and lead project efforts for our trading floor operations: The ability to listen and think before you speak is critical.

The right person will have both technical skills and people skills to help guide and resolve technical solutions and report results to management in both a verbal and written form. They will also be able to provide technical guidance and solutions to internal and external staff and vendors and give direction to complete project and daily tasks in a timely manor.

An experienced Sr Systems engineer able to resolve technical and project issues is a must requirement, and the Sr Systems engineer should have hands on experience and exposure to at least the following technical skills to guide staff in deciding technical solutions.

Microsoft server 2003/2008 – Be able to install, build and support Microsoft OS servers and the applications that reside on them. Should also have configuration knowledge of how IIS for web based application usage works. Along with knowledge of DNS, Active directory and client server networking skills.

Trading floor applications such as Reuters Kobra, Reuters dealing, Price aggregation systems, Bloomberg etc.

Solaris operating system – Be able to support the Reuters RMDS platform for Market data distribution. Should at least have knowledge of how it works. We have a whole department of Solaris experts.

Nice to have:

EMC data storage solutions – Be able to support Server connections to the EMC storage and have knowledge of how it works and how to fix connectivity issues. We have a whole department to directly support the EMC storage system.

VMware for both server and desktop environments – As we are just entering the world of VMware the ideal candidate will have at least some exposure to VMware for either workstations or servers or both.

CITRIX – Should understand how CITRIX works and how to configure and support applications residing within the CITRIX server farm. We have a department directly responsible to support the CITRIX environment; we would just work with them in support of the trading applications.
