Description	This senior database position requires a highly motivated individual with a high degree of technical acumen. This person is capable of designing and developing database procedures and processes with minimal direction, and can provide mentoring and technical oversight of others. In addition, this person must be well versed in all aspects of database administration with the ability to support and maintain, highly available, VLDB’s in mission critical environments.
Technical Responsibilities:
•	Design and supports highly flexible, scalable, 24/7, performance conscious database implementations. 
•	Develops reliable, efficient database code in support of online product offerings, reporting, and off hours batch processing. 
•	Designs and implements physical database table structures/index definitions, data marts/warehouses, and data migrations.
•	As assigned, scopes work efforts, of low to moderate complexity that account for design, development, unit testing and integration activities.
•	Takes a larger systems view during the design and development phase that considers ongoing maintenance, scalability, usability, and potential operational impacts of work efforts.
•	Takes a proactive approach with respect to system improvements and re-factoring of existing code base.
•	Implements production database builds, enforcing change management and SDLC procedures
•	Installs, upgrades, and configures database software.
•	Creates and manages database objects (tables, views, indexes, etc.)
•	Implements data fixes and ad-hoc queries required for supporting daily operations, reporting, and reconciliation inquiries or issues.
•	Reviews, monitors, and tunes system and instance resources to ensure continuous database operations (i.e., database storage, memory, CPU, network usage, and I/O contention)
•	Provides database metrics that summarize the overall application performance and system health of our production databases
•	Assists in the implementation, maintenance, and testing of backup & recovery strategies, including DR support.

Requirements

Seven to Ten years of focused Database Development/Administrative experience
•	Strong Oral and Written communication skills 
•	Team Player
•	Self motivated, fast learner who can work with minimal supervision
•	Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
•	Ability to interpret query plans, as well as using other diagnostic methods, to resolve performance issues
•	Strong technical competency in MSSQL Server 2005/2008
•	Working knowledge of SQL Server architecture
•	Strong experience writing T-SQL Stored Procedures and ad-hoc queries with careful consideration given to performance.
•	Strong Database Administrative Skills
•	Data Modeling experience
•	Understanding of the different levels of RAID and the appropriate uses of each

Preferred Qualifications	•	Working to strong knowledge of Oracle 10i and above
•	PERL scripting experience
•	Solid working experience working with large volumes of data
