Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The engineer will be involved with power conversion/motor drive system designer to work with and guide existing staff and customers to develop and maintain all aspects of the project.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Applies in-depth knowledge of several technical specialties with expertise in a minimum of one area in order to effectively and efficiently design, troubleshoot, and test power conversion / motor drive systems.
Establishes technical direction and designs large complex hardware systems.
Validates system performance in order to prove the technical design through analysis, simulation and laboratory test. Establishes standard practices within the functional group.
Generates complete system documentation and technical proposals in order to effectively communicate the design and/or approach to our internal and external customers. Ensures proper procedures and methods are used by other members of the design team.
Studies contract structure and content in order to be able to provide detailed knowledge to analyze and interpret product or system specifications, and their inter-relationship with specifications. Ensures product compliance to technical contract requirements.
Provides guidance, direction, and mentorship of less experienced design engineers in order to increase our design expertise base within the company with an emphasis on performance, design optimization, re-use, and intellectual “tribal knowledge”. Works with functional management to establish career development and technical training plans for less experienced engineers.
Participates as an integral part of the staff recruitment team in order to hire qualified candidates into company organization when future open positions are required to be filled.
Communicates with the customer and internal management as the primary technical expert to effectively interfaces with decision-making personnel and customer management.
Provides budget (cost), schedule, and technical compliance updates to management in order to efficiently record progress on a large system program.
Establishes technical direction for marketing new and future products. Generates and presents white papers on product performance enhancements. Establish technical approach in response to customer request for proposal. Supports strategic planning process.
Identifies weaknesses and propose methods to improve the internal work systems through process changes or tool changes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDE EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum 15 years of design experience with at least 8 years of analog and digital circuit design experience.
Proven experience in design and control of power circuits and associated regulator control system, feedback devices, A/D sampling, programmable device implementation and other related circuits.
Proven circuit design experience in high EMI environment.
Extensive skills in utilization of lab equipment.
Extensive PC skills in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Windows.
US Citizenship, Required.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid interactions within Electrical Engineering, other internal departments and external customers.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed properly and on time.
Able to effectively muti-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities.
Military design experience is a plus.
Experience with process improvement toolsets into a highly engineered environment (could include: lean, six sigma, design to cost, root cause analysis, etc.).
Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
