JOB DESCRIPTION:

Senior Unix System Administrator, to help manage 50+ servers running AIX, Linux, and Solaris operating systems supporting several enterprise applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools. 
•Technical support, troubleshooting and System failure analysis and recovery; insuring consistency and integrity of file systems. 
•Perform IT Disaster Recovery documentation analysis, audit and review 
•Hardware/software configuration; kernel configuration and tuning 
•Partner with other IT teams: Oracle DBA team, Oracle applications team, offshore team members and vendors teams.
•Liaison with applications stake holders and development teams to negotiate solutions and implementation specifics. 
•Write documentation for procedures, configurations, trouble shooting guide and setups. Write/provide technical evaluations and recommendations; document corrective actions and preventive actions in Incident reports; review and make recommendations on IT policy and procedure documents
•Support global user base utilizing critical enterprise applications, such as Oracle ERP, in a 24x7 environment.
•Support offshore 24x7 teams
•Manage and lead hardware and software selection, migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity. 
•Manage enterprise wide backups, tape library and restore requests.
•Must carry pager/cell phone for 24x7 production support issues after hours and weekends. 
•Provide professional interactions (internally and externally) in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
•Provide cross training and mentor other team members
•Implement controls and security to comply with FDA CFR Part 11, Sarbanes Oxley, and other regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

•In-depth knowledge of IBM AIX 5.3, 6.1, Redhat Linux 5.x, Solaris 9.x
•In-depth knowledge of enterprise backup systems, IBM TSM.
•Comprehensive skills in EMC DMX SAN storage management for Unix servers, along with GPFS file systems.
•10 yrs professional systems maintenance experience in a Unix data center environment 
•Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience 
•Strong experience with system management tools, monitoring tools, logical/parallel files systems, and client/server environments. 
•In-depth hardware configuration knowledge. LPAR, BCVs. 
•Shell programming expertise 
•Network LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP experience 
•Strong troubleshooting skills 
•Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies 
•Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people 
•5+ years supporting Oracle RDBMS, Oracle ERP applications a plus
